I get adjusted monthly to stay healthy and in alignment. I’ve been getting adjusted by Dr. Breanna Powderly since she started her business! Both of my babies got adjusted immediately after they were born, and come with me to get adjusted monthly as well.

Q: Can you explain what prenatal chiropractic care is and how it can benefit pregnant women?

A:Prenatal chiropractic care is extremely beneficial to a healthy, comfortable pregnancy and improved labor outcome! It’s gentle, specific chiropractic care that is focused on the alignment of the spine and pelvis, as well as the round ligaments of the uterus. Getting misalignments addressed in these areas is crucial in decreasing pregnancy related discomfort and making sure baby has all the space that they need.

Q: What are some common pregnancy-related conditions that you treat with chiropractic care? For me I had really bad SI joint pain in my lower back!

A:Typical pregnancy-related conditions that we often see include low back pain, round ligament pain, “lightning” crotch, sciatic pain, headaches, upper back pain, and even breech babies!

Q: Can you walk us through a typical prenatal chiropractic session? What can a pregnant woman expect?

A: During a prenatal visit, we will adjust your spine and pelvis to make sure they are in proper alignment. We will also do ligament release techniques on the sacrotuberous ligament (found behind your glutes) and the round ligaments (on the front of your baby bump.) Next, we will do a psoas muscle stretch and then check the pubic bone to make sure it’s where it’s supposed to be! We will also discuss birth plan, postpartum care, and the importance of getting baby checked after birth. We love supporting our mamas during this stage of life.

Q: Can you explain the Webster Technique, and how it can benefit pregnant women?

A: Webster technique is a pregnancy specific technique that all the doctors at Life Adjusted Chiropractic are extremely well versed in! It’s a special way to analyze the pelvis and the ligaments and we do it every visit for our pregnant mamas. It’s the technique described above!

Q: Can you offer any advice for pregnant women who may be hesitant about trying chiropractic care during their pregnancy?

A: My main advice for hesitation is to check out our testimonials from other mamas on our google reviews and our website, to ask a friend who has been in, or just to call us and ask! We understand any hesitation (thank you, TikTok) but chiropractic adjustments are safe, gentle, and proven to be effective in both pain management and labor outcomes. As a mother myself, I understand wanting what’s best for yourself and your baby and I would just invite you to reach out with any questions or concerns that you might have!

Q: How frequently should pregnant women see a chiropractor during their pregnancy, and is it necessary to continue chiropractic care after giving birth?

A: There’s no “one size fits all” pregnancy care plan, but we find that our mamas generally feel their best coming in once or twice a month at the beginning of their pregnancy, then gradually coming in more frequently when they get closer to the end. Our job is to listen to you and your body, so none of our care plans are set in stone! We trust that our mamas know their bodies and you’ll know when you’re ready to come in more frequently as that baby bump grows. Postpartum care is so important to healing and ensuring that any misalignments or stress that occurred during labor is corrected to keep you feeling good! We also always recommend getting baby checked and adjusted after birth as well. We love to help connect you with postpartum doulas, pediatric dentists, lactation consultants, or anyone else you may need during your postpartum journey. We can also help address any nursing issues and help identity lip or tongue ties. We believe in family care and we want to keep supporting you during every stage of motherhood.
