I love when a previous newborn client books me for their second baby’s newborn session. My clients feel like family, and I just love watching their kids grow. The Ecklund family welcomed me back into their beautiful home to photograph them as a family of 4 (plus their fur baby).
I like to think of myself as a professional toddler wrangler, since that how I spend my days at home with my two toddlers. As soon as I stepped into the Ecklund’s home, Calli was excited to show me her favorite toys and all of the ornaments on their Christmas tree. I always make sure to engage with the toddlers first so they feel comfortable with me being in their home and taking their picture. I like to act silly and play games to get genuine smiles in the midst of chaos.
The key to a successful newborn session is patience. Some babies sleep the entire time, and some just want to eat the entire time. I always tell my families that I go at the baby’s speed and go with the flow, that means not every session is going to look the same! My goal is to capture your family in an organic way and capture all the beautiful little details as they happen. I will help you into poses, but I also just love capturing the unposed moments of you interacting with your family. There is so much beauty in what feels like chaos of chasing toddlers and soothing babies.
